Course Overview

This one-day course provides candidates with an understanding of Building Regulations and how to comply with them in relation to unvented hot-water storage systems. It covers how to identify faults and meet other regulatory requirements, as well as the design, servicing, installation and maintenance of unvented systems. Pre-course self-study is also required.

The course is aimed at practising plumbing and heating engineers who already have knowledge of the fundamental requirements of hot and cold-water systems and central-heating systems, or students nearing completion of a Level 3 plumbing and heating qualification.

Modules Breakdown

Training and assessment cover the following areas:

  • Operating principles of unvented hot-water storage systems
  • Design and installation of unvented hot-water systems
  • Maintenance of unvented systems
  • Relevant Building Regulations
  • Sealed central-heating systems
  • Demonstration, practice and formal assessment

Assessment is through multiple-choice open-book theory exams, written theory and practical tests. On successful completion, learners receive a Certificate in Unvented Hot Water Systems.

Prerequisites

  • 12 months relevant industry experience - If no formal qualification is held
  • Recognised Level 2 Plumbing or related qualification

  • Photo ID (passport or driving licence)
  • Proof of previous qualification - If undertaking a Reassessment

Yes. You’ll need either a recognised Level 2 or 3 plumbing/heating qualification or at least 12 months of relevant industry experience.

It’s a one-day course that includes both training and assessment, usually running from 9 am to 4 pm.

Certification is valid for five years, after which you must complete a re-assessment to renew it.

Yes. The assessment includes multiple-choice written questions and a practical demonstration. Both must be passed to achieve certification.

All sessions take place at our Hull Gas Training Centre in East Yorkshire, with free parking and refreshments available.
